Element Narrative
Academic Standing The current status a student has with the institution. Academic standing determines whether they are able to continue to enroll in courses.
Academic Year A year-long period of time that makes up the academic calendar.
Advanced Credits - Cumulative Cumulative total of all advanced credits awarded by the institution. Advanced credits include all credits accepted by the institution except those earned through course work or transferred from other institutions.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Concentrators A postsecondary matriculated student who: (1) has completed the technical credit requirement (at least 18 technical credits) within a single program area (or within program requirements); or (2) has completed a program sequence with less than 18 technical credits that terminates in an industry recognized credential, certificate, or degree.
City Student's permanent city.
County Student's permanent county.
Credits - Cumulative Earned from Institution Total cumulative credits earned by the student from the institution through course work.
Credits - Total Earned Total cumulative credits earned by a student. Includes the following credits: Cumulative Earned from Institution, Transfer Awarded, and Advanced Credits.
Credits - Transfer Awarded Credits accepted by the student's institution which were completed and awarded from other institutions in which the person was previously enrolled.
Credits - Transfer Evaluated Credits previously completed at other institutions submitted for review. These credits may not all be awarded.
Credits Attempted - Term Total credits attempted during the term.
Credits Earned - Term Total credits earned during the term.
Date of Birth Year and month of a student's birth.
Displaced Homemaker a) worked in the home providing household services for family members, but who has lost the primary source of economic support and who must gain employment skills in order to earn a living; OR b) is a single parent with primary financial and custodial responsibility for supporting dependent children and who must gain employment skills in order to earn a living.
Division Status Classification of a person enrolling in credit-granting courses at a postsecondary institution since completing high school (or its equivalent) as either an undergraduate or graduate student.
Dual Credit Student A high school student who is enrolled in at least one course to simultaneously earn both high school and postsecondary credit.
Economically Disadvantaged Student Individuals from economically disadvantaged families, including foster children.
English as a Second Language Students whose first language is something other than English are referred to as English Language Learners and are often designated as ESL.
English Remediation Needed Student was identified by the postsecondary institution as needing English remediation.
Father's Level of Education The highest level of education attained by a person's father or paternal guardian
Full Time / Part Time Status An indication of the student's enrollment status for a particular term as defined by the institution
Grade Point Average - Institution A measure of average performance in all courses taken by a person during his or her institution career as determined for record-keeping purposes. This is obtained by dividing the total grade points received by the total number of credits attempted. This includes grade points received and credits attempted in his or her current institution.
Grade Point Average - Institution and Transfer A measure of average performance in all courses taken by a person during his or her institution career as determined for record-keeping purposes. This is obtained by dividing the total grade points received by the total number of credits attempted. This includes grade points received and credits attempted in his or her current institution as well as those transferred from institutions in which the person was previously enrolled.
Grade Point Average - Term A measure of average performance in all courses taken by a person during the term. This is obtained by dividing the total grade points received by the total number of credits attempted.
Grade Point Average - Transfer A measure of average performance in all courses taken by a person during his or her institution career as determined for record-keeping purposes. This is obtained by dividing the total grade points received by the total number of credits attempted. This includes grade points received and credits attempted from other institutions in which the person was previously enrolled.
Grade Point Average Credits - Institution Cumulative Total credits that apply to a student's grade point average.
Grade Point Average Credits - Term Term credits that apply to a student's Grade Point Average - Term.
High School Student's high school.
High School Class Rank The academic rank of a student in relation to his or her high school graduating class (e.g., 1, 2, 3) based on high school GPA.
High School Class Size Number of students in their high school graduating class.
High School Completion Type The method student used to complete high school requirements
High School Grade Point Average The student's high school grade point average at time of graduation.
High School Graduation Date Student's high school graduation date.
High School Verified Student's high school information was verified by the postsecondary institution.
Individual with Disabilities Individuals with any disability as defined in section 3 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). Under section 3(2) of the ADA, the term disability means, with respect to an individual a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of such individual; a record of such an impairment; or being regarded as having such impairment.

Legal Nation Student's permanent country.
Level of Degree Level of Degree student is pursuing.
Limited English An individual with limited English proficiency is a secondary school student, an adult, or an out-of-school youth, who has limited ability in speaking, reading, writing, or understanding the English language AND whose native language is a language other than English; OR who lives in a family or community environment in which a language other than English is the dominant language.
Major CIP Code Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) used to identify a student or graduate's major instructional program specialties.
Math Remediation Needed Student was identified by the postsecondary institution as needing math remediation.
Minor CIP Code Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) used to identify a student or graduate's minor instructional program specialties.
Mother's Level of Education The highest level of education attained by a person's mother or maternal guardian
Nontraditional Enrollee Occupations or fields of work in which individuals from one gender comprise less than 25 percent of the individuals employed in each such occupation or field of work.
Profession Technical Education Student Student if officially accepted and enrolled in a Professional Technical Education program.
Quality Points - Cumulative The cumulative numerical value assigned to all letter grades to provide a basis to calculate a student's current GPA.
Quality Points - Term The cumulative numerical value assigned to all letter grades earned during the term to provide a basis to calculate a term GPA.
Residency A person's residency status for tuition purposes.
Seeking Certificate of Over 1 Year Student is seeking an academic certificate of over one year in length.
Sex The concept describing the biological traits that distinguish male and female students.
Single Parent Is unmarried or legally separated from a spouse; and either (1)  Has a minor child or children for which the parent has either custody or joint custody; or (2)  Is pregnant.
Special Program An identifier to note a student is part of a special education program.
State Student's permanent State.
Student ID - Institution A unique number or alphanumeric code assigned to a student by the Postsecondary Institution.
Student ID - Postsecondary SLDS A unique number assigned to a student through the Education Unique ID (EDUID) system
Student Primary Level Student's level at the beginning of the term.
Student Privacy Student has requested their data remains private.
Student Type Student's type at the beginning of the term.
Term The period of time that the institution holds academic classes.
ZIP Code The ZIP code of the student's permanent address.

ZIP Code Only 5 digit ZIP codes developed and used by the United States Postal Service are available. Foreign postal codes are not available. If an institution supplies ZIP+4 codes, they are truncated to the 5 digit code.
